Ukraine strengthens its defense on border with Belarus

Ukrainian border guards are stepping up their defense and preparing for possible provocations, reports RBC-Ukraine, citing First Deputy Interior Minister Yevgeniy Yenin.

“The situation on the border is fully under control. The neighbors should understand that the Ukrainian borders are prepared for such provocations. Possible directions by which migrants can reach Ukraine have already been calculated,” Yenin said.

The Deputy Interior Minister also noted that the Ukrainian-Belarusian border section is now being strengthened to contain the flow of migrants if needed.

“Measures are being taken to engineer the section of the state border between Ukraine and Belarus. The bodies protecting the state border of Ukraine will be strengthened with personnel, equipment, and special means, including drones and dogs,” said a representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Recently, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki did not rule out that migrants from Belarus could go to the EU via Ukraine.
