'Burying money'. Lukashenka about backing regions amid pandemic


In April 26, Belarusian President Alyaksandr Lukashenka inspected Homiel region and spring fieldwork from a helicopter.

Visiting Narovlya district, the Belarusian leader met with Henadz Salavey, Head of Homiel region. He was interested in all particulars of the social and economic development.

Lukashenka akso warned him against counting on any concessions amid the outbreak of COVID-19.

“Don’t even think that we should reduce production because of any psychoses, pandemics or epidemics. No way. That’s not an option. If you start asking for money because of the pandemic…No one will give it to you because this is a way to bury the money.” the presidential press service quotes him.

According to Salavey, the majority of current problems have arisen on the back of the freeze of export after the outbreak of the disease and the closure of in other countries’ borders. Local enterprises are now working for the domestic market, he stressed.

In turn, Lukashenka urged the officials to get the work resumed after the reestablishment of logistic ties.

“If you have export contracts after the pandemic, we will think how to help you,” he promised.
