Prosecutors believe that in 2012 when Pavel Latushka was the Minister of Culture, he allegedly gave orders to his subordinates to include the production of films in the thematic plan. As a result, the Department of Cinematography concluded contracts with film producers and illegally financed the production of some films.

“Out of selfish and other personal interest, knowing full well that in accordance with the law there are no grounds to fund from the budget of Belarus a number of deliberately unclaimed film projects, he deliberately gave an instruction, going beyond his rights and authority given to him by the service, to include the production of films in the thematic plan for 2012-2013,” the prosecutor’s office reported.

The prosecutor’s office did not mention the titles of the films, but it believes that the activities of Pavel Latushka caused damage to the state and public interests. Prosecutors call all these unlawful actions and abuse of power.

In October 2021, a criminal case was brought against Svyatlana Tsikhanouskaya and Pavel Latushka for an unauthorized appropriation of power in Belarus.

Thus, Pavel Latushka’s “collection” now includes six criminal articles. The politician is accused of exceeding authority, creating an extremist formation, conspiring to seize state power in an unconstitutional way, calling for the overthrow or change of the constitutional order in Belarus and a crime against the state. He is also accused of committing an act of terrorism and conducting unauthorized appropriation of the rank and power of an official.
