Belarus eases rules of foreigners’ stay


The amendments have been made to the law ‘On the Legal Status of Foreign Citizens and Stateless Persons in the Republic of Belarus’. The corresponding document was signed by Alyaksandr Lukashenka, the presidential press service reports.

Among other things, the law provides for increasing the period within which the foreigners who arrived in Belarus are bound to register at the actual place of temporary residence from 5 to 10 days. The measure was taken in order to promote tourism and investment draw of the country as well as to facilitate business and nonofficial contacts,” the document reads.

The amendments also touch upon the question of visa denials to foreigners. Moreover, they stipulate the ways of foreigners’ and their representatives’ obtaining information on being included in the list of persons who are banned from entering Belarus or whose stay in the country is undesirable.
