Officially: Coronavirus death toll over 100 in Belarus


The Belarusian Health Ministry has published the updated information on the coronavirus situation in the country.

As of May 4, the ministry has registered the total of 17,489 persons infected with the novel coronavirus, which is about 8.2% of the tests taken.

With every passing day, the number of COVID-19 patients is growing at an increased pace. In the past 24 hours, 784 new cases have been reported in Belarus. Over the last week, the coronavirus infection rate has risen by 6,200.

By the moment, around 211,000 tests for detecting the virus have been conducted in Belarus. 3,259 patients who were diagnosed with COVID-19 have already recovered.

“For the entire period of the spread of the infection in the country, 103 patients who were previously tested positive for the coronavirus have died; they had chronic and co-existing illnesses,” the Health Ministry said on Telegram.

On May 3, the Belarusian authorities confirmed 99 coronavirus deaths in the republic; thus, another four persons have passed away within the last day.
