Public activist Syarhei Sparysh was detained by plainclothes policemen in his flat in Minsk on June 25, the telegram channel Da Voli (To Freedom) reports.

Witnesses claim that he was being dragged along the stairs; the ununiformed officers did not allow him to get dressed. His parents got hurt as well, Sparysh’s friends say.

Syarhei Sparysh is an ally of opposition politician Mikalai Statkevich, he administers the social networks and telegram channels of Narodnaya Hramada party. He has been repeatedly detained and placed under arrest for taking part in protest rallies.

Statkevich, a former political prisoner and 2010 presidential candidate, is now serving another term for ‘violating the rules of holding mass events’. It is the second arrest in a row; he has been in custody since May, 31. On that day, the politician was rounded up by plainclothes men when he was going to a picket to collect signatures for wannabe presidential candidate Svyatlana Tsikhanouskaya.
