G7 summit cancelled over coronavirus pandemic

U.S. President Donald Trump has canceled a meeting of the G7 leaders, which was to be held in June in Camp David, Reuters reports.

Trump took the decision to cancel the G7 because of the coronavirus pandemic. Personal meeting of the Big Seven leaders will be replaced by a video conference. Earlier Trump already used the format of a video conference for negotiations with world leaders.

The White House Economic Advisor Larry Kudlow said the summit was canceled so that each country could focus all its resources on fighting the health and economic problems associated with COVID-19. World leaders will also hold consultations via video link in April and May.

The G7 includes the USA, UK, Germany, France, Canada, Japan and Italy.
