EHU Senate demands withdrawal of Pollick, Davidson, and Lonsdale

The Senate of the European Humanities University has made a statement on the current situation around the project. On May 12 it became known that the institution which upholds the principles of academic freedom had lost a major financial donor, the Nordic Council. This decision was taken after the sponsors had conducted an audit which discovered the financial abuse pattern by the administration. The media published the relevant information.

Therefore, on May 25, the EHU Senate addressed the General Meeting of the co-founders of the EHU, the EHU Governing Board, key donors, as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania. The Senate urged them to take immediate action to restore the reputation of the university and institutional stability.

The Senate proposed five steps for sustainable development of the university:

1. Immediately withdraw David Pollick as rector of EHU;

2. Immediately withdraw from their posts the acting Chairwoman of the Governing Board A.Lonsdale and deputy chairman of the Governing Board D.Davidson;

3. Provide academic community with an opportunity to participate in the selection process of a new rector;

4. Introduce the EHU crisis management with the participation of representatives of the academic community;

5. Ensure the real participation of the academic community in the drafting of the university budget and budget spending monitoring.

The following year the EHU will celebrate its 25th anniversary, almost half of which has been in exile.
