Belarusian boy wins US Chess Championship

Seven-year-old Yahor Hrynko has becaome the winner of the US Youth Chess Championship in his age category.

The Homel schoolboy moved in the American Foster City with his parents six months ago. Yahor’s parents are IT specialists, they work there on a contract basis.

A couple of years ago, his mother taught him to play chess. Later he started studying at the Homiel Sports School-3 with coach Maryna Tserashkova. It is thanks to her, in the opinion of Yahor’s parents, that he was able to achieve high results.

Prior to winning the US championship, Yahor had already won four other local tournaments.
