BelaPAN accountant Katsyaryna Boyeva has been released from jail on Akrestsin Street. She was released on her recognizance, while Boyeva remains a suspect, reports naviny.by.

The day before, the Investigative Committee reported that the inspection found that during the period from June 2018 to January 2021, employees of BelaPAN independent news agency had allegedly provided false information to the tax inspectorate, which resulted in non-payment of taxes totaling over a hundred thousand rubles. As a result, the former director of BelaPAN Dzmitry Navazhylau, the editor Iryna Lyaushyna and the accountant Katsyaryna Bialyayeva were charged under part 2 of article 243 of the Criminal Code (“Tax evasion that caused damage on a large scale”).

In the morning of August 27, the BelaPAN accountant Katsyaryna Boyeva was released on her recognizance to appear, but she still remains a suspect.

The employees of BelaPAN were detained on August 18th, originally they were defendants in the mass riot case.

Leushyna and Navazhylau were under investigation. According to their lawyers, they feel “normal, hang in there.”

Belarusian human rights defenders have recognized BelaPAN workers as political prisoners.
