At the initiative of the prosecutor’s office of Barysau district, the information products by the local news portal ex-press.by have been recognised as ‘extremist material’, the Telegram-channel of the Prosecutor General’s Office reports.
It is not specified what was the reason for the authorities’ taking the corresponding decision.
Amid another wave of political persecution of independent mass media in July 2021, the editorial office of the regional media outlet ex-press.by was forced to leave Belarus. In August, their website was blocked.
Earlier this year, the websites of Belsat, TUT.by, Tribuna were listed as ‘extremist’. It should be noted that the words ‘extremism’ and ‘destructive activity’ are now used by Lukashenka’s regime to condemn any manifestation of dissent and protest moods.
