23 people infected with coronavirus at orphanage for disabled children


The Irish TV channel RTE has reported about the coronavirus outbreak in the Vesnova orphanage for disabled children with special developmental needs in Hlusk district of Mahiliou region.

The head of the International Foundation Children of Chernobyl, Adi Roche, told Irish journalists that 23 people were infected with coronavirus in the Vesnova Boarding House. The Foundation has been helping this orphanage for 20 years.

A representative of the Foundation said that some children “are already very ill”. According to her, 13 children with weak immune system and 10 hostel staff were infected with Coronavirus.

“Their chances of survival would be very poor,” Roche said.

Adi Roche said the orphanage has no cough medicine, painkillers or antiseptics.

According to TUT.BY source, twenty-eight children and 8 orphanage staff have tested positive for coronavirus.
