Man sentenced to 3 years in prison for peaceful protest, pushing policeman and comment about Lukashenka


Judge of Rechytsa district Maryna Katsuba has found Kanstantsin Mikhaltsou guilty under three articles of the Criminal Code and sentenced him to 3 years in prison, reports “Paleskaya Viasna”.

The 23-year-old resident of Rechytsa Kanstantsin Mikhaltsou was tried on August 19 for the events that took place on August 9 last year. The man was accused of going out on the road on Chapayeu Street and allegedly interfering with the traffic. In addition, he prevented the police from detaining people. When the law enforcers grabbed Mikhaltsou, he allegedly pushed the policeman.

Mikhaltsou was also accused of insulting Lukashenka in a comment in his Telegram channel.

Judge Maryna Katsuba found Mikhaltsou guilty of “crimes” and sentenced him to 3 years of imprisonment to be served in a general regime penal colony.
