Lukashenka threatens West

On January 21, Alyaksandr Lukashenka visited military facilities in the Luninets district and met with the army leadership. He made several harsh anti-Ukrainian statements and promised to the West “to hit it hard.”

Lukashenka repeated the propaganda thesis about “fascists” in Ukraine and complained that “common roots, language, cultural and ethnic code, which connects peoples,” are being torn out of Ukrainians’ souls.

“It pains our hearts to see all that is going on in Ukraine. Its current political leadership, being under external control, sometimes behaves unpredictably and inadequately. Due to the unpredictability, inadequacy, and in case of, God forbid, military action, we have to make our minds,” Lukashenka was quoted as saying by the press service.

He urged to “reliably protect” the border with Ukraine and quoted the saying, “If you want peace, prepare for war.” “We must do everything not to be caught unawares and to be able to respond at the right time,” he added.

Lukashenka said that Belarus and Russia do not want war, but if they deploy armies against the Union State, put it on the brink of survival by sanctions, intimidate and threaten. Belarus and Russia “will do significant harm.”

“If someone didn’t get it: they’ll get more than they bargained for. I’m not threatening, I’m just warning: God forbid,” he stressed.
