Pruzhany: Man gets 10 days in jail for calling police and saying 'Long Live Belarus'


On January 12, Pruzhany district court arrested a local resident who called the police and said ‘Long Live Belarus’, Mediazona reports with reference to the court ruling which appeared in the Bank of Judgments.

The man was charged under Art. 19.1 of the Code of Administrative Offences (‘petty hooliganism’).

On 12 November 2021, the defendant dialled number 102 (the police) ‘unreasonably and from hooligan intentions’ and said: “We believe, we can, we will win! Long live Belarus!”, the document reads. According to the court, he ‘violated public order and peace of citizens’.

Although the resident of Pruzhany pleaded guilty, he was sentenced to 10 days of administrative arrest.
