Former police officer sentenced to 1.5 years in prison for 'calling for participation in riots'

The 36-year-old former policeman Dzmitry Skretutski was recently found guilty under Part 1 of Article 342 of the Criminal Code (Organization and preparation of actions, seriously violating public order, or active participation in them), reports HRC “Viasna.”

The verdict was passed in a Maladzechna court by Judge Ina Kakhanouskaya.

A former police officer and now entrepreneur Skretutski was detained on August 4, 2021. From August 12 to October 12, 2020, he allegedly “urged to participate in illegal mass actions of social and political nature in telegram channels.” Also, according to the charges, the man claimed that he could recognize police officers if pictures were sent to him.
