“Yara is an important long-term partner for Belarus. However, given the ongoing mass terror of the regime, we believe it is time for Yara to stop its activities in Belarus until the rule of law and democracy are restored in our country until all political prisoners are unconditionally released and rehabilitated. At today’s meeting with the leadership of Yara, I stressed that we’d be happy to see their company as a partner for a free and democratic Belarus in the future,” said Svyatlana Tsikhanouskaya in a joint statement.

In turn, Svein Tore Gulsetter said that Yara has decided to review the situation and decide its continued presence in Belarus by December.

“In the meantime, we will continue to use our position to advance further the issue of workers’ safety and human rights,” he stressed.

During her visit to Norway, Tsikhanouskaya also held talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with the heads of several inter-parliamentary delegations and civil society organizations, and the Belarusian diaspora in Norway.
