A Minsk engineer Anatoli Shalkovich, who created a meme about his love for tomatoes with sour cream, has not been released after 30 days in jail, Mediazone reports.
It is unknown why he is still behind bars.
The 65-year-old Anatoli Shalkovich was arrested on November 11, on his 65th birthday. The man was arrested for 15 days under an unnamed article. However, the Interior Ministry said that he was making protest symbols at home, which he then “put into the trees.”
A police-made video featuring Anatoli became a meme: the man explained that he liked the combination of white and red, as he likes tomatoes with sour cream, and his wife is a redhead, which is also white and red.
On November 26, he was punished with 15 more days in jail.
Pavel Batuyeu, an activist from Salihorsk, was also not released after his administrative arrest. Human rights activists found out that he had been sentenced to 15 more days in jail.
Batuyeu was detained on November 23. A criminal case was brought against him.
