Aleh Razhkou, a Belsat TV journalist and the anchorman of the programme ‘Media with Razhkou’ has recently been a guest of the iconic British actor Ian McKellen, whose most well known film role is Gandalf in The Lord Of The Rings and The Hobbit trilogies. He shares his impressions with belsat.eu:

“Sir Ian McKellen, who was knighted by Elizabeth II in 1991 for services to the performing arts, turned out to be a very hospitable and courteous host. Over 20 persons were present at the party, but no one was left out in the cold.

Sir McKellen’s house is located on the bank of the Thames not far from the centre of London. Its facade is not striking, but the interior is very nice inside. There are many of sculptures, objets d’art , paintings and black-and-white photos inside. It was clear that every thing had been cherry-picked. At that, the house hardly resembles a museum; it is very homey here.

There is an opening onto the terrace from the hallway. The view is so fantastic that one does not want to leave it even when it rains. Interestingly, the highest building in the UK – The Shard, which bears certain similarity to the Eye of Sauron at night, can be seen from here.

When Sir Ian McKellen learned that I was passionate about Tolkien’s world as a child, he gripped my hand and showed me off to another floor.

In a separate room, I saw a lot of ‘remnants’ – the things that witnessed the process of many films’ shooting. So, there was the wizard’s sword in the umbrella box; his gray hat lay on the shelf. He put it on me and said: „Well, now it is your turn to be a magician!” We laughed and filmed a funny video:

When I returned to Minsk, I realized that I had forgotten my inscription bag. Thus, there is something of Belarusian origin remained in the chambers of Gandalf.”[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”395553″ img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]Gandalf’s figurines[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Aleh Razhkou/MS, belsat.eu
