Vot Tak TV journalist arrested for 15 days


Vot Tak TV and BelaPAN journalist Pavel Dabravolski has been arrested for 15 days.

He was found guilty of participating in an unauthorized rally on October 18 (Article 23.34 of the Administrative Code of the Republic of Belarus (Violation of the procedure for organizing or holding mass events). At the same time, the court noted that Dabravolski was at the rally as a media employee and had a relevant ID with him, BelaPAN reports.

On October 18, a “Partisan March” took place in Minsk, which gathered tens of thousands of people. During the rally, about a hundred people were detained.

Pavel Dabravolski was detained on October 30, he managed to write a message to his colleagues: “The masked police came”, after which his phone became unavailable.

The police claimed that the journalist had been taken to the local police department as part of an administrative process, but the detainee’s lawyer Syarhei Zikratski said that he could not get any information about his client being held there. The lawyer filed a missing person report.

According to the latest information from BelaPAN, Pavel Dabravolski was kept in remand prison in Akrestsin Street. His lawyer confirmed to Vot Tak TV that Pavel is still there.

The defense intends to file a complaint and considers the arrest of the journalist arbitrary.
