'Total Soul' in Belarus: Vitsebsk coat of arms in shape of dumpling

On January 30, Vitsebsk joined ‘Total Soul’, a worldwide flash mob of creative people who compete in making dumplings and varenyky.

The residents of the Belarusian city made about 200 dumplings. In other participating cities, their number reached several thousands. At the same time, Vitsebsk distinguished itself by creating an unusual half-meter dumpling in the shape of the city’s coat of arms.

The heraldic symbol of Vitsebsk – ‘the half-figure of Jesus Christ on blue, a sword below it’ was awarded by the King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania Sigismund Vasa on March 17, 1597.

Due to its size and shape, the dumpling had to be baked, not cooked.
