Vladimir Putin has met with Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO) Stanislau Zas at the Novo-Ogaryovo residence, the Kremlin press service reports.
“The participants discussed the implementation of plans to fight terrorism and drug trafficking, as well as security measures for the celebrations to mark the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory,” the statement reads.
In early January, Stanislau Zas, a former head of Belarus’ Security Council, started acting as a new Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation. The corresponding decision was taken at the CSTO summit that was held in Bishkek in November, 2019.
Vladimir Putin said he was delighted to see Stanislau Zas in his ‘new capacity’ and expressed hope that he would use ‘all experience’.
“You are well aware that Russia took over the CSTO chairmanship this year, so we will work with you more closely than usual,” he added.
Stanislau Zas was born in Ukraine, he graduated from the Baku Higher All-Arms Command School, the Military Academy of Belarus and the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Russia.
