Syarhei Tsikhanouski also met with Lukashenka in KGB jail


Syarhei Tsikhanouski was among political prisoners who met with Lukashenka in the KGB jail, lawyer of Vital Shklyarau, Anton Hashinski, told Echo of Moscow.

“I saw Vitaly today. He was invited by Lukashenka to a conversation with Tsikhanouski and Babaryka, whom Vital saw for the first time at this meeting. They spent five hours talking about the future of Belarus, protests and constitutional reform,” said Hashinski.

On October 10 in the KGB prison Alyaksandr Lukashenka met with arrested representatives of the Coordination Council and the United headquarters of the opposition. The meeting lasted almost five hours.

They discussed the possibility of stopping protests and civil society representatives joining the work on the new Constitution. The authorities promised to hold new presidential elections in Belarus after the new Constitution was adopted.

After the meeting with Lukashenka in the KGB jail, Syarhei Tsikhanouski called Svyatlana Tsikhanouskaya for the first time in 4 months.

The conversation was attended by at least 12 people, including ex-presidential candidate Viktar Babaryka, his son Eduard Babaryka, arrested political technologist Vital Shklyarau, member of the Presidium of the Coordination Council, lawyer Liliya Ulasava.

On October 11, several participants of the meeting were released from KGB remand center – Yury Vaskrasenski who was a member of initiative group collecting signatures for Viktar Babaryka and CEO of IT company PandaDoc Dzmitry Rabtsevich. They were puton house arrest after the meeting with Alyaksandr Lukashenka.
