Russia to impose sanctions on 360 Ukrainian companies, 50 persons – state-run media

The Russian government is reported to be finalizing a draft decree imposing sanctions on Ukraine. The restrictions may affect about 360 companies and 50 individuals.

The document will soon be presented to Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev for signing, the source said.

“There will be many interesting discoveries for citizens of Ukraine, who will see that certain their leaders sticking to radical views, including in respect of relations between two countries and peoples, and their entourage has nothing against making money from these relations at the same time,” news agency TASS quotes its source in the government.

A week ago, Dmitry Medvedev said Kremlin sanctions would affect hundreds of Ukrainians who had caused ‘harm to Russia’.

According to Medvedev, Moscow will blacklist businessmen, as well as other ‘famous people’. According to the Prime Minister of Russia, the sanctions provide for the freezing of their personal assets, their companies’ assets, as well as a ban on the withdrawal of funds from Russia. In addition, Moscow intends to further restrict the import of Ukrainian goods into Russia.

Russian president Vladimir Putin imposed sanctions on Ukraine by signing on October 22 a decree introducing “special economic measures” against Kyiv.

Ukraine started blacklisting Russian legal entities and individuals some years ago. The Ukrainian sanctions list currently includes more than 1,700 people and over 700 companies. The country impose sanctions on persons and companies linked to Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, as well as those spotted in other violations of Ukrainian legislation. The sanctions list is regularly updated.
