Russia also has hand in Donbas conflict - Lukashenka

The Normandy Four is not able to solve the conflict in Ukraine, Belarusian president Alyaksandr Lukashenka said at the international forum European Security: Stepping Back from the Brink. Minsk is hosting the event on October, 7-8.

“If the Normandy Four counts, they should have gathered together and decided upon the matter. But they do not decide anything, I was there, I know the entrails. However, I am explicit about the issue: there is no chance to settle the conflict in Ukraine without [the participation of] the United States,” tut.by quotes Alyaksandr Lukashenka.

During his speech, Lukashenka noted that one should not say that the Donbas conflict is not that of Russia and Ukraine.

According to him, Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky ‘is ready to take hard decisions for the sake of peace’. The Steinmeier formula might have been endorsed by Ukraine, but the ice is not broken yet, the Belarusian president believes.

In his opinion, the ability to put the conflict to rest is a ‘litmus test’ for Europe, the presidential press service reports.
