Rosatom preparing to supply nuclear fuel to BelNPP

The Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom will supply nuclear fuel to Belarus and send several groups of workers, Interfax-Zapad reports.

The commissioning of the first BelNPP unit is scheduled for 2020, while the second is to be launched in 2021.

“The Belarusian and Leningrad NPP testing activities are underway. We are preparing to bring fresh fuel to Belarus. Scheduled rotation of personnel continues at this site. Last week, another group of workers, 43 people, was brought there. In the coming days, several more groups of workers of Rosatom and contractors are preparing to be sent to Belarus,” said the head of state corporation, Alexei Likhachev, in a video message.

Likhachev did not name specific dates of nuclear fuel supplies.

In early April it was reported that 15 Russian citizens who arrived at the plant in Astravets had tested positive for COVID-19.
