Wannabe presidential candidate Viktar Babaryka is likely to be held in detention whilst awaiting trial.
“Viktar and Eduard [Babaryka’s son and campaign chief] have been charged and remanded in custody,” the team said on Twitter.
The defense lawyers are going to appeal against the order of the pre-trial detention as a preventive measure.
On June 20, it became known that charges had been brought against Viktar Babaryka, but the lawyers did not go into detail, as they had signed a non-disclosure agreement.
