Lukashenka wants Belarus to buy 60% of oil outside Russia

On January 21, the President of Belarus held a meeting on the efficient sale of oil products for export, BelTA reports.

During the meeting, Alyaksandr Lukashenka admitted that there’s no alternative to the full supply of Russian oil today. However, he instructed officials to “diversify supplies”.

“Refineries have faced the problem of financing their current activities and, importantly, their investment programs aimed at production development. But I have already told you: I do not even want to take these arguments into account. There is no war. There is a sea of money in the world,” he said.

According to him, the situation is complicated by Russia’s introduction of tax maneuver, which reduces the income of the Belarusian budget and the efficiency of oil refineries.

“Refineries have faced the problem of financing their current activities and, importantly, their investment programs aimed at production development,” said Lukashenka.
