Lukashenka no longer most popular foreign politician in Ukraine


For the first time in 5 years, the German Chancellor Angela Merkel has topped the rating of Ukraine’a favorite world leaders. After the summit in Paris, the positive attitude towards her has increased from 60% to 69%. This is evidenced by the results of the research of the Ukrainian sociological group “Rating”.

Back in November the Ukrainians thought the most highly of Alyaksandr Lukashenka among all foreign politicians. Sixty-six percent of Ukrainians had a positive attitude to Lukashenka and only 15% — a negative one. German Chancellor Angela Merkel was in second place with 60% positive and 17% negative. However, in December, the attitude changed. The rating was headed by the Chancellor of Germany – the positive attitude to her rose from 60% to 69%. The liking of Lukashenka decreased to 65%. The third place was taken by French President Emmanuel Macron. The liking for him has grown from 39 to 52%.

The attitude to Russian President Vladimir Putin has not changed: 16% of Ukrainians have positive attitude to him, while 72% – negative.

In December 2019, the number of respondents who consider Russia as an aggressor country towards Ukraine has increased (from 64% to 70%).
