How Minsk believers mark Easter and Palm Sunday (photos)

This year, the Christians abiding by the Gregorian calendar have celebrated the day of the Resurrection of Christ on April, 12.

On the same day, their Orthodox counterparts commemorated Palm Sunday, Christ’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem. Holy Week and Easter are ahead of them yet.

There were not many people in the Red Church, most of them came in the morning. Believers were keeping the distance, only families kept together. The priest and most of the visitors had masks on their faces.

In the course of the liturgy, there were few people wearing masks; the worshippers were standing close up to one another. After every time the icons were kissed, they were sanitised; disposable napkins were given to communicants. Consecrating willow branches were held in the open air; priests asked the parishioners to keep the safe distance.
