Health Ministry confirms second coronavirus death. Number of ill not reported


The deceased patient had many chronic diseases, the Health Ministry said on Telegram.

As reported earlier, a local resident diagnosed with pneumonia died on March, 30 in a hospital in the Belarusian city of Vitsebsk. The woman had coronavirus, her daughter claimed, but the authorities did not confirm the fact at once.

“We have recorded one more death case of an elderly patient who had a number of chronic diseases which, according to preliminary data, were complicated by the coronavirus infection,” the statement reads.

75-year-old actor Viktar Dashkevich was the first person to have succumbed to COVID-19 in the country.

Five patients who were previously tested positive for COVID-19 have been discharged in the past 24 hours, the ministry informs. 157 people are under medical supervision and treatment. By now, more than 32,000 coronavirus infection tests have been conducted in Belarus, the authorities stress.

However, the total number of the infected is still not reported. Earlier, the ministry published a report on the situation; it did not include the number of patients who contracted the novel coronavirus.
