Hardly plateau: Coronavirus cases top 38K in Belarus


The Health Ministry has published new data on the situation with COVID-19 in Belarus.

As of Tuesday morning, the total of 38,059 coronavirus cases have been confirmed by Belarusian health professionals. In the past 24 hours, the number of new infections has increased by 915.

To date, 15,086 patients who were diagnosed with COVID-19 have already recovered. By the moment, over 472,000 tests for detecting the virus have been conducted in Belarus.

“For the entire period of the spread of the infection in the country, 208 patients who were previously tested positive for the coronavirus have died; they had chronic and co-existing illnesses,” the statement reads.

On Monday, the Belarusian authorities reported 204 coronavirus deaths in the republic; thus, another four persons have passed away within the past day.

In mid May, Deputy Health Minister Alena Bohdan said that the coronavirus pandemic in the country was allegedly entering plateau.

Since May 6, COVID-19 infection rate has not dropped: 900-950 new cases have been recorded daily.
