Belarusian PM admits 2018 was extremely difficult

During the presentation of state awards, Prime Minister Syarhei Rumas noted that each of the awardees contributed to the development of an independent state. At the same time, the Prime Minister acknowledged that 2018 was quite complicated.

“2018 was not easy. We will summarize its early next year. But at the same time, it is already possible to say now: through joint efforts we managed to achieve certain results. The foreign trade was balanced, the balance of payments improved. Inflation is in the planned parameters, and we expect a record low inflation based on the figures. At the same time, stability in the consumer market has been ensured,” said Rumas.

However, during the year, the Prime Minister more than once spoke about the decline in the country’s economy.

Special attention has traditionally been paid to the development of the agro-industrial complex, and well-deserved awards have been presented to many representatives of this industry.

“High quality products, the use of natural products and raw materials allow manufacturers to occupy a leading position in the global market. According to government forecasts, the export of agricultural products in 2018 will exceed that of last year, and next year growth is expected by another 7%,” said PM Rumas.
