Blogger Vadimati in custody

The famous Hrodna blogger Vadzim Yermashuk (Vadimati) was taken into custody on September 24th. It happened a day before the end of his administrative detention, which lasted 40 days. Now the blogger is in Shchuchyn detention center.

Vadimati is a suspect in two criminal cases: Article 368 of the Criminal Code “Insulting the President of the Republic of Belarus” (up to four years’ imprisonment) and Article 370 of the Criminal Code “Mockery of State Symbols” (up to three years).

The blogger was detained on August 16th in Shchuchyn. On August 19th, Shchuchyn district court sentenced him to 25 days of administrative arrest. Judge Dzmitry Tsiunchyk passed the verdict under Article 24.23 of the Administrative Code for alleged calls to come to a sporting mass event at a skate park in Shchuchyn.

On September 9th, a new trial was held, where Vadimati was sentenced to 15 days in jail for allegedly calling the “115” service on August 13th and speaking profanely about the housing and utilities department and the city executive committee.
