Two more Belarusian banks hit by EU sanctions

Last summer, Belarusbank, Belinvestbank, and Belagroprombank got under EU sanctions. Now Development Bank and Dabrabyt Bank have joined them.

They will not be able to borrow money for more than 90 days and will lose the opportunity to conduct transactions with securities with a maturity of more than 90 days.

The wording of the sanctions against the oil industry has also been changed. It is now forbidden to import directly or indirectly oil and hydrocarbon products produced or exported from Belarus.

The Belarusian Foreign Ministry, commenting on the EU decision, said that “adequate response measures on our part will also follow, and it will happen at the time and to the extent that we consider necessary.”
