According to bookmakers’ rankings on nicerodds.co.uk, Svyatlana Tsikhanouskaya is the fourth most likely Nobel Peace Prize winner.

Bookmakers consider the World Health Organization (WHO) the most likely candidate, with Russian politician Alexei Navalny second on the list, followed by environmental activist Greta Tunberg. Bill Gates is eighth on the list, Joe Biden is eleventh, and Angela Merkel is twentieth.

“With all the speculation about the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize predictions, the name of the winner will remain a mystery until the announcement date set for October. As more world leaders, such as Trump and Netanyahu, and major institutions dominate the list of nominees, the names of potential individuals remain shrouded in shadow,” the site notes.

Svyatlana Tsikhanouska was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize by Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda.

“This is an incredible honor, and I thank Lithuania for all the support it gives to Belarusians. After all, the nomination is not my merit. Still, the achievement of the people of Belarus, whose peaceful protest is admired by millions of people in different countries,” Svyatlana Tsikhanouskaya said then.

So far, only one Belarusian has received the Nobel Prize. In 2015, writer Svetlana Alexievich was awarded the prize for her contribution to literature.

This year, 234 people and 95 organizations have been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. The winner will be officially announced on October 8.
