The United States has nothing to do with any conspiracy to eliminate Alyaksandr Lukashenka, an official representative of the State Department told TASS correspondent.

“We have seen reports in the Russian state media about an alleged conspiracy against Alyaksandr Lukashenka as well as his own statements about it in the media. Any suggestion that the U.S. government was behind it or involved in the attempted assassination of Lukashenka is completely false,” he argued.

Commenting on the detention of U.S. and Belarusian citizen Yury Zyankovich, a State Department spokesman said that Washington was ready to provide consular assistance to its citizen.

On April 17th , Alyaksandr Lukashenka stated that Belarusian opposition politicians Alyaksandr Fyaduta, Ryhor Kastusiou and Yury Zyankovich, who were detained in Belarus and Russia, were allegedly planning a coup d’etat and an attempt on Lukashenka with the help of American special services. This information was then confirmed by the KGB of Belarus and the FSB of Russia.
