Man from Zhodzina facing up to 12 years in jail for setting fire to prosecutor's office


The investigation of a criminal case against a resident of Zhodzina, who in October set fire to the building of the local prosecutor’s office, is over, BELTA reports with reference to the Minsk regional department of the Investigative Committee.

It is alleged that a 31-year-old resident of Zhodzina made a device out of a mixture of gasoline, kerosene, and firecrackers. At night, on October 8, he brought it to the building of the local prosecutor’s office and set it on fire. As a result the doors and the canopy above the entrance were damaged. The damage was estimated at more than 1.5 thousand rubles.

The man was charged under part 3 of Article 339 (“Particularly malicious hooliganism” – up to 10 years imprisonment), as well as part 1 of Article 295-3 (“Illegal actions against objects, the striking effect of which is based on the use of flammable substances” – up to 2 years imprisonment).
