Polish MoD: UK engineering forces to arrive at Poland-Belarus border

British engineering troops will provide their assistance to Poles in fortifying the fence on the Polish- Belarusian border, Poland’s Defence Minister Mariusz Błaszczak said on Twitter on Friday afternoon.

The reconnaissance has begun in the run-up to the [expected] support from British engineering troops. Our soldiers will be strengthening the fence on the Polish-Belarusian border in partnership [with them],” he said.

According to Mariusz Błaszczak, more details about the would-be cooperation will be reported later.

In addition, the Polish ministry reports that soldiers of Polish army have so far built over 180 km of temporary fencing, which ‘effectively hinders attempts to illegally and forcibly cross Belarus-Poland border’.

On November 9, the police reported that 3,000-4,000 persons settled in the forest on the Belarusian side along the Polish border; there have been numerous attempts to destroy barbed wire fences and illegally enter the territory of Poland. Notably, the number of Belarusian officers near the border is constantly growing; they are keeping a close eye on the migrant camp.

On November 10, traffic was suspended in both directions at the road border crossing point in Kuznica due to the situation on the Polish-Belarusian border.
