Belarusian military in Kazakhstan to secure military airfield

Belarusian military arrived in Kazakhstan on January 6 by five planes. They will perform the task of protecting and defending the military airfield there, said Deputy Commander of Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Belarus Syarhei Andreyeu.

Earlier, the Belarusian Defense Ministry informed that the military contingent of “peacekeeping” forces of Belarus secured some critical facilities of the military infrastructure of Kazakhstan.

It is noted that the CSTO troops are not involved in combat operations to maintain law and order in the country.

Belarusian military men of the 103rd Detached Airborne Brigade of Vitsebsk arrived in Kazakhstan in the framework of the CSTO program at the request of President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. They were flown from the Machulishchy airfield near Minsk on Russian Il-76 military transport aircraft.
