Minsk: Several protesters brutally detained

Various sources have reported detentions in Kuntsaushchyna residential area in Minsk.

According to Euroradio, a number of local residents staged a protest march on Thursday morning; they had white-red-white symbols. Some of them were brutally detained by officers of the Main Directorate for Combating Organised Crime and Corruption (notorious GUBOPiK/GUBAZiK) on Prytytski Street.

Emigre blogger Anton Matolka said on his Telegram that the protesters were carrying white-red-white flags and walking in the direction of the metro station when masked security officers jumped out of a blue van.

“They have rounded [people] up, put [them] into the vehicle, they knocked one person to the ground, then kicked him several times,” Matolka writes.

The information about the detentions in Kuntsaushchyna district has been officially confirmed by GUBAZiK; they have posted a video of a detained protester who says that he is a subscriber of one of protest telegram chats. According to him, they were about to hold a protest rally, but they were detained immediately. In the video, the protester is forced to stand with his hands behind his head.
