On September 7, it became known that Veranika Ivanova was suspected of leaking policemen’s data to anti-regime Telegram channels known as The Black Book of Belarus).

The human rights defender keeps attending political trials in Pinsk for years; she is known to be helping people involved in the so called Pinsk case and their relatives. On August 25, she was present at the hearing of the case of Anton Shlemen who got 1.5 years of restriction of liberty for picking off the state flag.

“This trial was widely covered by state-run media, and later the public prosecutor’s name appeared in the Black Book of Belarus. A probe has been launched into this fact, and I have been held suspect, since I made notes to a notebook then [in the course of the hearing],” Veranika Ivanova told Belsat.

The interrogation was conducted by two criminal investigation officers Dzmitry Yaromchyk and Artsyom Kuchyn.

As reported earlier, the police raided the flat of Ivanova’s son Kiryl in early August. In addition, the young man had to spend four days in a detention centre, but the case initiated against him burst wide open in court.
