Joint military exercises of Russia and Belarus to be held in March


Two joint Russian-Belarusian tactical exercises of airborne troops of Russia and the special operations forces of the Armed Forces of Belarus will be held in March this year, reported in the Defense Ministry of Russia.

Joint exercises are planned to be held at the shooting range “Asipovichy” in Minsk region and at the training ground “Palivno” in Ulyanovsk region of Russia.

The first joint Russian-Belarusian tactical exercises of peacekeeping nature in 2021 will be held on the Russian territory from March 9 to 20. On March 9 troops are planning to arrive from Belarus, while the active phase of exercises will run from March 16 to 19.

“In total more than 400 servicemen and about 100 units of combat and special equipment of the Ulyanovsk compound will be involved in the exercise, from the Belarusian side – more than 80 servicemen of the separate Guards Airborne Assault compound of Special Operations Forces. In addition, two Mi-24 attack helicopters and six Mi-8AMTSh transport helicopters of the Central Military District will be involved in the exercise,” said the military department.

In parallel, exercises will be held from March 15 to 27 at “Asipovichy” training ground in Minsk region.

About 90 servicemen of Black Sea Airborne Assault Regiment of Pskov Guards Airborne Troops will participate in exercises of Russia. More than 400 personnel from the Armed Forces of Belarus and about 100 units of combat and special equipment from the Vitsebsk separate Guards airborne unit.
