Hrodna: Political prisoner Mikhail Yudzin gets married in jail

Before his being imprisoned, entrepreneur Mikhail Yudzin and his life partner Valeryia had lived together for 15 years, they have two children. They have registered marriage behind bars so that Mikhail’s wife could avail herself of a legal opportunity to hand over food parcels and visit him in prison.

Hrodna resident Mikhail Yudzin was sentenced to four years in jail for allegedly using violence against a police officer during a protest rally on September 27. According to the prosecution’s version, he hit a riot policewoman over the head and kicked her in the leg, then gave two blows to another riot policeman. However, Mikhail says that on that day he saw people in black clothes dragging a man down the street and made a remark to them. In response, they sprayed him with some substance, took him to a police bus and battered him.
