Not enough Russian troops in Belarus to attack Ukraine, Kyiv says

Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksii Reznikov says that the risk of an attack from the territory of Belarus is the lowest, Ukrinform reports.

“An offensive from the Belarusian side has the lowest level of risk. We are closely following the exercises that have started on the territory of the Republic of Belarus, studying them both with the help of intelligence and from open sources. Therefore, I can tell you with confidence: as of today, the concentration of Russian troops for exercises in Belarus is such that they are not enough to conduct any offensive operation,” Reznikov said during a briefing in Pripyat.

The minister added that Ukraine is in direct contact with its strategic partners, and the facts about Russian troops in Belarus fully coincide.

Earlier, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg stated that Russia deployed modern weaponry and about 30 thousand troops in Belarus. According to the head of the Alliance, this is the largest deployment of Russian forces in Belarus since the Cold War.
