Ukraine stops transit of low-quality Russian oil


A meeting of Druzhba operators aimed to resolve the situation with oil quality has been confirmed in the Belarusian capital. The parties “will try to develop a technical solution to the issue of the supply of raw materials to refineries.”

“Representatives of Poland, Ukraine, the Russian company Transneft will attend the meeting,” the concern noted, tass.ru reports. “They will discuss issues related to the Russian oil supplies.”

Following Poland, transit was suspended by Ukraine, the company wrote on Facebook.

“All material losses are imposed on the side that did not fulfil its duties,” the company said.

The resumption of oil transit through the Mazyr-Brody pipeline is promised to be reported later.

On April 21, due to the deterioration in the quality of Russian oil, Belarus temporarily restricted the export of petroleum products, including gasoline. Belneftekhim promised to demand compensation from the Russian side.

On April 22, at the Mazyr Oil Refinery, it was stated that poor-quality Russian raw materials led to the breakdown of expensive equipment.

On April 23, Belarus suspended the export of light oil products to Ukraine, Poland and the Baltic countries, and Belneftekhim said that Russian oil with a high content of organochlorine compounds began to flow to Europe and Ukraine.

On April 24, Naftan reported that oil pumping conforming to technological standards began in the northern area of ​​the pipeline. At the Mazyr Oil Refinery, the situation remained the same — oil arrived with a high content of organochlorine.

On April 24, Belneftekhim reported on a developed scheme for ousting “dirty” Russian oil from the Belarusian section of the Druzhba pipeline. Its volumes already exceed one million tons.

On April 25, the transit of Russian oil through the Druzhba pipeline was suspended by Poland.
