The trial of the local activists Uladzimir Hundar and Yury Kazakevich over unsanctioned picket has been postponed.
“I asked the judge to speak to me in Belarusian. She asked, “Do you need a translator?”. I replied, “No”. She put off the trial until 13 May due to the fact that she would need a translator,” said Uladzimir Hundar to intex-press.by.
According to the activist, this case shows that the government official does not know the native language. But, according to the Constitution, said Hundar, officials are obliged to know the two official languages.
The activist also said that the witnesses – two policemen – did not show up in court. But he said the main reason that the trial was postponed was the lack of interpreter.
Hundar andd Kazakevich are accused of breaking the law “On Mass Events”. On March 25 this year they came to the Baranavichy center with white-red-white poster on the occasion of the Freedom Day and with a Ukraine solidarity poster saying: “Together to a better life.”[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”182927″ img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]Photo: Yury Pivavarchyk
