State Duma deputy: Islamic State killed two captured Russians


Russian citizens Roman Zabolotny and Grigory Tsurkanu who were taken prisoner by the Islamic State are dead, Russian MP Viktor Vodolatsky says.

“After the exract of the video message published on social networks [had been filmed], they were given a paper and ordered to read the text on it for record… Neither Roman nor Gregory fulfilled the order,” Vodolatsky said.

According to the MP, the both were expected to read that they joined the Islamic State. When they refused to do it, they were killed, he added.

Anatoly Kotlyar, a deputy of Rostov-on-Don city council, also made a comment on the death of his countryman Roman Zabolotny.

On September 28, an Islamic State group posted a video featuring two Russian soldiers it had allegedly captured prisoner in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor province.
