Sberbank clients' data leaked into black market

Russian banking sector has experienced the largest personal information leakage in years. A proposal for 60 million Sberbank credit cards was put forward on the black market, Kommersant reports.

Sellers of the information claim that the data of the bank’s clients are absolutely authentic. Their offer appeared last week at one of the specialized forums. The publication notes that the table does contain detailed personal and financial information.

Sellers of the data base note that the entire table has 11 parts, exactly the number of territorial offices of Sberbank in Russia. Each line costs 5 Russian rubles.

The consequences from such a leak for the Russian banking sector can be very serious. In turn, Sberbank notes that the bank’s customers should not worry. According to the financial institution, the investigation of this incident is currently underway.

In recent years, financial companies have often become victims of hackers. Personal data that fall into the hands of the attackers are then sold on the black market.
