Russian PM Medvedev insists 'sanctioned' products enter Russia via Belarus

The heads of the Belarusian and Russian governments have discussed the issue of “gray” product deliveries banned for import by the Kremlin, said the head of the Russian Economic Development Ministry Maksim Oreshkin. According to him, specific companies and products were discussed.

“The Prime Minister of Belarus has questioned the fact that it is happening. In response, Dmitry Anatolyevich presented materials to the Belarusian side with a specific indication of the goods, companies that are involved in this, ”said Maksim Oreshkin.

The meeting between Medvedev and Rumas was held in Almaty within the framework of the Intergovernmental Council of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

Earlier, Moscow has repeatedly spoken about illegal deliveries of sanctioned goods through Belarus. In particular, the head of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture, Alexander Tkkachev, has called Belarus a “transit point” for such products, and this explained the actions of the Rosselkhoznadzor, which restricts the import of Belarusian goods.

For example, out of 1 million tons of vegetables and fruits imported from Belarus in 2016, only 60% were Belarusian-made, and 40% were imported, including those from Poland, Holland, Belgium, France, the minister said.
